World-Friendly Holiday Gift Ideas

‘Tis the season of giving, and this year, I’m giving a lot of thought to what I’m gifting to loved ones. Over the past few years, my mentality on products/purchasing has completely shifted. I personally only want to buy things that will fill an unoccupied space in my life or my home, and when I’m buying something (or asking for something) I focus on the quality and longevity of the product, while also considering the values of the company it comes from. So, my goal this year is for all of my gifts to reflect most, if not all, of these values and ideals. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of gift ideas that are both thoughtful and practical, as well as gifts that support companies and people trying to make the world a better a place.

For the Health & Wellness Enthusiast – S’well Traveler Reusable Drink Bottle

If you’re still drinking out of single-use plastic water bottles, well, stop it. Now. Those dirty things contain micro plastics and toxins, plus they pollute the planet. That’s why everyone can appreciate a high-quality reusable beverage bottle, especially your most health-conscious friends and family members. I use my S’well Traveler every single day. Leak-proof, condensation-proof insulated and BPA-free, I can throw it in my bag and hydrate all day without worry. With three sizes to choose from and loads of color/pattern options, you’re sure to find the perfect Traveler for that special someone. I like the Traveler model because of the wide mouth, but they have plenty of other styles to. These days, there are lots of reusable bottle brands to choose from, but I prefer S’well because they support a variety of non-profits, including organizations working to provide clean and safe water to the most vulnerable communities around the world.

If your loved one already uses a reusable bottle, consider these Bean Bottle Cleaning Sponges. I swear by them!

For the Dog Lover – Dog Mat by West Paw

I can say first hand that West Paw makes high-quality and high-integrity products. Cheddar absolutely loves her West Paw dog mat. It’s completely machine washable, light enough for travel and filled with stuffing made from recycled plastic. If the dog mat isn’t for you, they have true dog beds, toys, collars, leashes and more. All products are made in the US from American materials, and their business is dedicated to being eco-conscious and employee-friendly.

For the Homebody – Good Vibes Candle by Prosperity Candle

Everyone loves a good candle and this candle from The Little Market does more than make your home smell amazing. Purchasing these candles supports women refugees working toward a better life and a brighter future in America. There are lots of different options to choose from, both different scents and different designs. Go check them out, plus tons of other humanitarian-focused gifts, at The Little Market.

For the Trendsetter – Shoes from Allbirds

I absolutely love my Allbirds slides. They are unbelievably comfortable (no breaking in required), machine washable, stylish and environmentally conscious. Allbirds shoes come in a variety of fabrics, styles and colors, both for men and for women. I know I know, getting shoes for someone is kind of risky, but that’s not a problem here because Allbirds now offers gift cards (both physical and virtual), along with free shipping, extended holiday returns and stellar customer service.

For the Tiny Tot – Pizza Parlor by Green Toys

Green Toys is a standout brand creating fun, creative and safe toys made entirely of recycled materials, mainly milk jugs. They also use eco-friendly packaging and their products are dishwasher-safe, toxin-free and made in the US. I chose to feature the Pizza Parlor, because what can I say, I’m obsessed with pizza. But there are tons of choices from Outdoor Wagons to an awesome Build-a-Bouquet set, there’s something for every kiddo on your list.
