Conscious Consumption: Blue Planet Sunglasses

This post is focusing on my current fave eyewear company – Blue Planet. Not only does Blue Planet offer stylish sunglasses & readers at fair prices, but they are committed to reducing waste, using recycled/sustainable materials & helping those in need by providing corrective glasses to those who need them most. But let’s take a step back to talk about “conscious consumption” as a whole to better understand why I love Blue Planet so much. Side note, if you make it to the end of this post I have a coupon code waiting for you.

Whenever I purchase anything, I make a conscious effort to choose products & brands that adhere to high social and/or environmental standards. I call this effort “conscious consumption” and it has changed the way I live. Conscious consumption promotes quality over quantity, and requires a good deal of thought, research and effort before purchasing. The effort involved in conscious consumption is time consuming, particularly when just starting out. That’s why I’ve created a Conscious Consumption campaign to share everyday products & brands that meet my standards.

Over the past few years, I’ve thought a lot about the consumer culture we live in and I eventually decided that designer labels & name brands simply don’t mean anything to me. Sure, a designer name might mean superior quality, but there are more and more brands popping up that offer quality, functionality, style and upstanding core values at a fair price. So the question becomes, why pay a premium for a brand name company to slap their logo on your stuff?

Blue Planet is the perfect example of this movement toward supporting companies and purchasing products that have more to offer than just their name. Blue Planet offers tons of styles to choose from, great quality, superior customer service and, most importantly, they value the both the environment & humanity as a whole. So if you’re in need of some new shades or readers, definitely check out Blue Planet, click here to go directly to their website. Bonus! Use code “mary20” for 20% off your order.
